PRESIDENTS MESSAGE

The 2024-2025 fiscal year has been a very active and rewarding one for our school. We have seen a record number of students taking both the GED Ready Tests as well as the GED Subjects Area Tests. Our students have performed remarkably well and we have been able to award certificates accordingly. Several of our students were able to obtain their GEDs and have moved on to gain employment. Our instructors continue to do an amazing job of meeting each new student where they are and get them ready to be successful in pursuit of their goals. It is so exciting to see the looks on their faces when they reach them.

Our English as a Second Language (ESL) classes welcomed some new students this past year and said goodbye to a few who moved out of

the area. This program not only helps people learn a new language but it also assists them to adjust to a new culture. They are gaining confidence in their English proficiency and are anxious to apply their professional skills to local employment. Some of these students have already been able to gain employment in our community and are thriving in their new environments.

We reintroduced our STRIVE program in March of 2025 with an emphasis on building a student portfolio for each participant. STRIVE presentations take place during school hours and are offered every 6 weeks. This program will continue to run through the late Fall of this current year. With the completion of each component of the program, students who attended will receive a certificate to be placed in their portfolio binders. Upon completion of the entire STRIVE program, students will be awarded a course completion

certification to be placed in the binder as well. These student portfolios will also include GED test certificates and any other certifications that may have been gained during their tenure at CCSAE. We feel confident that these portfolios will help our students on potential job interviews as well as highlight the work that the individual has put forth to gain some skills that will make them more employable in the future. Heading into the Spring of 2026, we are happy to announce that the STRIVE workshops will also be available during evening hours. Our classes will begin this year on Wednesday April 1st and will be from 10 am till 12 noon for the morning students and again from 5:30 pm till 7:30pm for evening students. We will also be offering an in-depth Personal Finance course that will meet twice a month on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 pm till 7:30 pm. We are opening up these classes to the entire community. Details about our Spring offerings will come out in late March and early April of 2026.

While the GED program, ESL classes, STRIVE workshops and now a Personal Finance course highlight our offerings at CCSAE, we have been able to help our students in other ways:

  • Assist in filling out job applications and other connected paperwork.
  • Provide individual tutoring to our GED students and other community members by request. ● Help in identifying job opportunities.
  • Introduce students to community professionals from various businesses
  • Provide field trips for cultural enrichment.
  • Offer books through our Reading Across Generations initiative.

We at the Crawford County School for Adult Education continue to remain committed to our mission and as always stay connected to our core values. These things continue to guide us in our journey to help those in our community gain what they need to improve their lives and reach their goals. It is still our belief that there is nothing that we can’t do as long as we all are willing to work as a community to get it done.

Respectfully submitted,

Ken Achenbach

President
